Lorne Kalisky founded Vican Trading in 2003. His mission was to develop a successful trading company, reflecting only the best competitive and professional qualities of the scrap metal industry. Before Vican, Lorne spent 11 years working as a metals trader with two of Canada’s leading processors and brokers. Prior to that, he established a successful wound care management business which he eventually sold to a public company. Lorne is married with 2 kids, and enjoys outdoor activities (both summer and winter).

Corey joined Vican Trading in the summer of 2006. At Vican Trading, Corey’s primary role is to provide systems and processes that will help build Vican Trading into an industry leader in pricing, customer service and execution. Prior to joining Vican Trading, Corey spent 15 years as an Investment Manager for two of Canada’s tier 1 brokerage firms. As an Investment Manager, Corey was responsible for all aspects of portfolio management including market research, trading execution and client service. Corey is happily engaged.

Miriam joined Vican Trading in spring of 2006. At Vican Trading, Miriam is responsible for the financial and accounting department. Prior to joining Vican, Miriam was V.P. Finance of Athletic Image, one of the leading Canadian knitwear manufacturers. Earlier in her career, Miriam spent nine years with TD Bank in both the personal and commercial sectors. Miriam holds an M.B.A. degree from Concordia University. Miriam is married and has one child.

Joel has been with Vican Trading since it’s inception. Joel’s responsibility at Vican Trading is to oversee all aspects of transportation including the management of the scheduling, transport documentation, issuance of purchase orders and invoicing. Prior to joining Vican Trading, Joel was an account executive in the Industrial Equipment industry. Joel is married with two children.

Adam has been with Vican Trading since 2004. Adam is responsible for managing client relationships and to ensure that every step of the client’s experience with Vican is managed effectively and seamlessly. Prior to joining Vican Trading, Adam was with Royal Bank of Canada where he obtained valuable client relationship experience handling high net worth and corporate accounts.

Debbie has been with Vican Trading since its inception. Debbie is responsible for managing Vican’s day to day accounting operations. Prior to joining Vican, Debbie worked as a trader and logistics manager in the frozen fruit and vegetable industry. Debbie received her MBA at Mcgill University in 1989. She is married with two children.

Ken started to work in scrap metal almost 40 years ago. From sorting scrap in the yard to truck driver to general manager of the fifth largest scrap recycling company in Canada. Ken is married with 4 kids and 4 grand kids. Ken loves the outdoors, mostly fishing and hunting.

Yun Li has experience working in China and Canada within the export division of the recycling industry. Along with a degree in Accounting, Yun Li’s role at Vican Trading will encompass bookkeeping, trading, and communication.
